Growing instructions for Fantasy Varieties

The Fantasy Chrysanthemums are very popular in Japan and China and now there is an increasing interest in the U.K. They have large, spectacular flowers with long petals. Fantasies are all late flowering and will need to be flowered in a cold greenhouse, although they will be best outside during the summer months.

Plants should, ideally, be obtained in early May and stopped by the first week in June, allowing two or three blooms to develop on each plant. Grow in pots, starting in a 9cm (3.5") and potting on as needed, to finish in a 20cm (8") pot. Use a good quality potting compost, such as John Innes No. 3, and feed weekly with our tried and tested fertilizer, click here for more information. Water moderately, keeping the compost just moist, at all times. Move the pots undercover by early October.
