The Boulou Chrysanthemums make wonderful plants for pot culture, they will flower In November/December and produce many flowers on compact plants. They will grow to around 80cms in height and, when dis-budded, the flowers will be 14 - 16cms across. It is possible to have up to 50 blooms per plant. Stop twice, early April and mid-July for November flowering or, mid-April and early August for Christmas flowering.
We have moved Blanche Poitevene, a wonderful old variety, introduced in 1921, to this section, in line with a review of its classification by the National Chrysanthemum Society.
The young plants should be potted on twice, with the final pot size being 23cms (9"). Use good quality potting compost, such as John Innes No. 3, and feed weekly with our tried and tested fertilizer, click here
for more information. Water moderately, keeping the compost just moist, at all times. Stand outside in a sunny position for the summer, stake as necessary. Before the first frosts move the pots into a cold greenhouse, which must be kept well ventilated.
